This mixed-media collage explores themes of desire, identity, and transformation through the juxtaposition of classical references and contemporary visual language. The composition is structured around a strong vertical axis, resembling a shrine or altar, which immediately evokes ideas of worship, ritual, and reverence. This architectural framework gives the work a sense of order that contrasts with the emotionally charged and fragmented imagery within. At the centre, a contorted nude figure appears enclosed within a triangular form, suggesting tension between protection and confinement. The body is marked with repeating motifs, blurring the boundary between skin, ornament, and symbolism. This figure becomes both sacred object and vulnerable subject, reinforcing the work’s exploration of the body as a site of meaning, control, and transformation. Surrounding elements—flowers, butterflies, classical vessels, and fragments of Renaissance-style figures—create a surreal environment that merges the natural, the spiritual, and the erotic. The floral imagery softens the composition while also symbolising growth, fertility, and decay. Butterflies introduce ideas of metamorphosis and impermanence, reinforcing the theme of change. At the base of the collage, a group of male figures with obscured faces challenges traditional ideals of masculinity and identity. By replacing faces with flowers and fruit, individuality is anonymised and the human form is transformed into something ornamental and symbolic. This inversion questions objectification, power, and the gaze within both classical and contemporary art traditions. Overall, the collage demonstrates a confident engagement with art history, symbolism, and mixed-media techniques. The work reinterprets religious and classical imagery through a modern lens, creating a visually rich and conceptually layered piece that invites reflection on the body, identity, and the act of looking
